XF-87 IJN Grey is the standard hull grey worn by Imperial Japanese Navy warships a versatile, true-to-scheme tone that covers evenly and takes weathering well. If you’re building 1/700 or 1/350 waterline ships, this is a jar you’ll go back to again and again.

Best for

• Imperial Japanese Navy warship hulls and superstructure
• Waterline and full-hull ship models, 1/700 and 1/350 scale
• Brush or airbrush application, thinned with Tamiya X-20A

Solid, even coverage from the jar means less time fighting the paint and more time picking out panel lines and rust streaking once the base coat’s down.

10ml glass jar, water-soluble. Keep a bottle of Tamiya X-20A thinner on the bench for airbrush work, and consider XF-85 Rubber Black for the deck fittings.
